Movies for the holiday--presidential buddy flicks

Here are a couple buddy flicks -- with presidents in the mix.

My Fellow Americans:  Two former presidents (James Garner and Jack Lemmon) find themselves on the run after the current president (Dan Aykroyd ) blames them for a bribery scheme. Critics on rottentomatoes.com gave this film a low score, but 65 percent of viewers liked it. That probably has something to do with the performances of Garner, Lemmon and Aykroyd.

White House Down:  A down-on-his-luck cop (Channing Tatum) must save his young daughter, who has been taken hostage by terrorists in control of the White House. Along the way, he comes to the aid of the president (Jamie Foxx), and the two form a rescue plan. Technically a thriller, the film is similar in plot to another movie that hit theaters about the same time (Olympus Has Fallen). But while Olympus is more of a thriller, White House Down is basically a buddy movie. Once again, roughly half of the critics hated it. Viewers loved it –- largely because of the Foxx-Tatum chemistry.
