Cars have a way of finding potholes – and there are plenty of them to find.
It's no secret that many roads are in disrepair. (See: The Infrastructure Report Card link below.) Congress has agreed to put money in the Highway Trust Fund through May – and hopefully it will find a long-term solution. In a letter to the House Committee on Ways and Means on Oct. 9, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., pointed out:"Our economy depends on safe and efficient transportation systems, and yet our roads and bridges are falling apart. ... The Highway Trust Fund is a problem that can be solved, and this Congress must uphold its responsibility to come up with a sustainable funding solution. We cannot afford to wait for action until the deadline, which falls at the beginning of the critical summer construction season, or to kick the can down the road any longer." Maybe Congress will get it together. But you never know. We might all have to look for alternative forms of transportation.
